How Has College Tuition Changed?

By June 27, 2019 No Comments

Today’s video is going to hit home personally for me as I have one child that is graduating from college, and I have another one that is just starting college.

How has tuition changed?

I recently read an article from the college board that I wanted to share with you. Over the last 22 years, which would be the next generation of college kids, from 1997, the average tuition in America per year for room, board and books, was $7,142.  For the 2019 entrance, new freshman entrance to college, it is projected that tuition on average will be $21,370.

In other words, for the next generation, tuition has nearly tripled.

Isn’t the price of everything going up?

However, according to inflationdata.com, during the same time period from 1997 through 2018, inflation is up only 63% versus three times the increase for tuition.
