According to the Treasury Department, foreign investors held $6.55 trillion of US Treasuries at the end of May of 2019, which is the highest level ever.
Japan replace China as the largest foreign holder of US Treasury debt with Japan now holding $1.123 trillion, which increased their overall holdings by $90 billion during the last year. While China owned a total of $1.113 trillion at the end of May, reducing their holdings by $79 billion.
