One coordinated plan

Six decisions. One connected plan.

The portfolio is one part of the picture. Retirement income, taxes, benefits, and estate move together. We coordinate them in one plan, not in silos.

What the Work Looks Like

A meeting should end with decisions made and next steps assigned.

The exact work varies by household, but each meeting is designed to end with a usable summary: what changed, why it matters, who owns the next step, and when the decision will be revisited.

A retirement-income map

Where expected income may come from, when it begins, and which accounts may support spending.

A decision calendar

Pension deadlines, Medicare enrollment, required distributions, planning windows, charitable gifts, and other time-sensitive work.

A portfolio and liquidity plan

How investments, cash reserves, near-term spending, and risk considerations fit together.

A shared action list

The work Fortress will handle, the decisions you need to make, and items that belong with your CPA or attorney.

Bring the decision you are weighing. We will tell you plainly how we would approach it.

How We Work

Start with the question that brought you here.

01

Introductory call

A 30-minute conversation about what is prompting the call, the help you want, and whether the relationship appears to fit.

02

Discovery

We review the statements, benefits, tax documents, estate materials, and priorities relevant to your situation.

03

Risk assessment

We identify the exposures, blind spots, and tradeoffs across your income, investments, taxes, benefits, estate, and cash flow.

04

Plan and implementation

We explain the choices and tradeoffs, agree on the work to be done, and coordinate the accounts and paperwork within our scope.

05

Ongoing review

Markets move, benefits change, and tax rules get rewritten. We meet on a regular cadence to keep the plan current.

Where our work ends and coordination begins.

Fortress provides investment advisory and financial-planning services. We do not prepare tax returns or draft legal documents. When a decision involves tax or legal advice, we work with your CPA or attorney so the financial plan reflects their guidance.

Before We Talk

A few practical questions.

What does working with Fortress cost?

Fortress is fee-only. Our advisory fee is a percentage of the assets we manage, ranging from 0.45% to 1.25% per year depending on the size and complexity of the household. There are no commissions, no product sales, and no hourly surprises. Your exact fee is quoted in writing before you decide to engage, and the full schedule is in our Form ADV, linked in the footer of every page.

Why an asset-based fee instead of a flat fee?

Because the work is ongoing, not transactional. One fee covers planning, investment management, coordination with your CPA and attorney, and the service between meetings, and it scales with the responsibility we take on rather than with how often you call. It also keeps the relationship simple: no meters running, no invoices for questions. If a flat or hourly arrangement suits your situation better, we will tell you before you engage.

Who does Fortress typically work with?

More than 330 households, most of them people approaching or in retirement: Mayo Clinic professionals, families with a first seven figures saved, business owners, and multi-generational households. Complexity, not account size, drives how we staff a relationship. If we are not the right fit, we will say so on the first call.

Do I need to move every account?

Not necessarily. We first review what you own, where it is held, applicable taxes or restrictions, and how each account fits the plan. Any recommendation to retain, transfer, or change an account depends on those facts.

Does Fortress prepare taxes or estate documents?

No. We model financial implications and coordinate with tax and legal professionals, but Fortress does not prepare tax returns or provide legal advice.

What should I bring to the first call?

Nothing is required. The first call is a conversation about your situation, the help you are seeking, and whether working together appears to make sense.

The People Behind the Plan

Real advisors, across the table.

Your introductory call is with a Fortress advisor, not a call center. You will work with a lead advisor supported by the full 11-person team.
